In NSW primary schools, the study of a language is optional.
Language study allows students to develop communication skills, learn about languages as systems and explore the relationship between language and culture. Students engage with the linguistic and cultural diversity of societies and reflect on their understanding of social interactions.
Our Japanese Language Program continues to engage and immerse our students with it's fantastic language and cultural content. Our Japanese teacher Mrs Sharon Monk inspires our students and enables us to provide this wonderful opportunity for students to study Japanese, a language that is also accessible for students to continue learning at our local high schools.
The Australian Curriculum and Reporting Association research has shown that learning another language has been shown to extend students’ intellectual and analytical capabilities and strengthen their cognitive and general capabilities, such as creative and critical thinking. It also says studying languages can improve student knowledge of concepts across the curriculum and enhances their employment and career prospects.
